With WAXED wrapping up a few weeks ago, the Monster Children office and Holiday Records team was given the colossal task of picking a winner from over 550 music submissions.
We were blown away by the calibre of tunes submitted which made for quite an enjoyable time spent listening along here in the office, although picking the winner was no easy feat. However we’d like to congratulate the winner of this year’s WAXED competition... this dog. The NZ natives have now won 300 copies of their album "Clean Living" pressed onto vinyl, namely:
- 300 x 12" Heavy-weight (180gm) COLOURED Vinyl Records (choice of colour)
- Full Colour Premium Print Package - Single Pocket Jacket, Insert, Centre labels and a Sticker (All FSC-certified sustainable paper stock)!
- All shrink wrapped and boxed and delivered anywhere in Australasia
- Plus Full Vinyl Mastering from the local legend Chris Chetland from KOG Studios in Auckland!
When we broke the news to the fellas their response was classic:
"HOLY SHIT THAT'S UNREAL! Thank you guys so much for picking us! This is mind-blowing. We're this dog from Ōtautahi (Christchurch), New Zealand. We make grunge & midwest emo with a kiwi accent - which we write in a shed next to the city's wastewater treatment plant. Much aroha and thanks to Monster Children & Holiday Records for this! We're absolutely shocked and way too poor to have vinyl for our music. With love, André (drums), Fēlix (lead guitar), Jake (rhythm guitar), Nick (bass guitar) and Robbie (vocals)."
We’d also like to congratulate the runners up including Sputnik Sweetheart, Square, Sofia Machray, Gully Days, Offthewally, dip, The Terrifying Lows, Couch Wizard and Sin City.
